On October 18–19 Kharkov hosted a conference put on by ProZ.com, the largest community of translators and interpreters in the world, during which the conversation centered on the industry’s growth prospects, interaction between translation agencies and freelancers, best practices for promoting services, cooperation with foreign clients, use of modern computer tools, and quality management. Henry Dotterer, ProZ’s founder, looked at where global trends in the language-services market are heading in the next 3–5 years.
AllCorrect CEO Demid Tishin gave a presentation entitled “A Quantitative Approach to Evaluating Translation Quality,” discussing the system of translation-quality metrics AllCorrect developed on the basis of SAE J2450, an American standard. The system, which the company actively uses to select and test translators and editors, enjoyed lively attention and high marks at the conference.
The All Correct Group, which was founded in 2006, is headquartered in Ireland, while its production office is in Samara to go along with an additional office in Tolyatti. The company’s mission is to offer its clients the translations to and from Russian they need for their businesses.
The All Correct Group plays a role developing translation and localization standards as part of ISO, GALA, and IGDA, and is also an associate member of the Union of Translators of Russia as well as GALA.
